Think Local
When you move you will most likely want to choose a moving company local to you. If you are moving long distance, choose a mover that is located near your origin-destination. If you are moving internationally, you will probably need to choose a company associated with a larger van line such as Mayflower. Many large van lines have local agents throughout the country. They will be able to direct you to an agent that is close to you.
Get 3-5 Estimates
You don’t need to choose to go with the first moving company that you come across. Get estimates from several so that you can compare pricing, schedule openings, and insurance policies. Don’t always go with the cheapest option – there are moving companies that are known to scam customers.
Do Your Research
Before making your decision, you will want to make sure that you are hiring the right moving company. This means that you should be checking credentials and if the business is registered with the BBB (Better Business Bureau), reading reviews, and asking the company questions.
Avoid Scams
Make sure that your chosen company does a thorough estimate (not just a brief one).
