Time It Right
Summertime is a peak moving season. Our movers are also busiest during the winter holiday season and at the end of the month as leases turn over. If possible, be flexible about when you move. If you need to move during peak times, make reservations at least four weeks before your moving day.
Plan Ahead
Our estimates detail not only our moving services, but also include an inventory of items you want moved. Before our moving agents arrive at your home to provide an estimate, determine what items need to be moved and what will be discarded.
Pack Smart
If you are planning to pack yourself, start collecting suitable containers and packing materials. Take advantage of storage compartments like luggage, bookcases, and dressers that you are already transporting. Set packing goals and deadlines so you are prepared for your moving day.
Get Rid of Flammables
By law, Hollander International can’t transport hazardous materials. Packing items like paint thinners, matches, lamp oil, and other household chemicals increases the risk of fire. Get rid of all flammables, drain the fuel from your lawn mower, and throw away partly used containers that may leak.
Insure Valuables
If you want us to move your valuable items, obtain a current written appraisal verifying their value. In addition to obtaining an appraisal, make sure you have photographs or videos of your antiques. Make a record of serial numbers, signatures, and manufacturer indications on all valuables.
